Senior Mikey Bickerton is a varsity basketball, football and lacrosse player. He has lettered 9 times, and hopes to letter twice more. Bickerton has been playing basketball since the age of 7. Standing at 6’4″ Bickerton was born to be an athlete. He has been playing sports since he can remember, dabbling in baseball, swimming and soccer.
“He is extremely strong and athletic. He plays with confidence, that is what makes him great,” said Head varsity Coach P.J Kelly. Bickerton has been performing well this season giving Stuart a lot of their season total of points. He has been a work horse this season averaging 19 points per game and over 10 boards per game.
Bickerton plays varsity lacrosse and football as well. “He loves the game, it makes him want to succeed,” said senior football and basketball teammate David Marzi. Bickerton started every game for Stuart’s football. He actually played both ends of the field playing quarterback or tight end on offense, on defense he plays safety. Bickerton is undecided on what he wants to pursue collegiately, or if he wants to play any sport.
“I want to experience college. College sports are a lot of work, and I want to have fun,” said Bickerton. He has been accepted into University of Kentucky, East Carolina University and University of Mississippi. Bickerton is waiting for other responses
“He has the mindset of a professional bound player. Of course he can play in college,” said football teammate, sophomore Kevin Flores. Bickerton works extremely hard for the sport he loves as well, weightlifting almost every day.
“He doesn’t have an offseason, he constantly is working to get better,” said senior Jose Gutierrez. Despite not being sure whether he will play a sport at the collegiate level, Bickerton has an abundance of opportunities.
