On May 12, the boys varsity soccer team suffered a tough loss against the Marshall Statesmen on its senior night.
Senior players Marcelo Camacho, Jessee Del Cid, Noah Kline, Theo Lebryk, Griffith Miles, and Osmar Rosales Jimenez were honored just before the game.
The Raiders came out strong with a solid team effort, keeping the game fairly back and forth. Sophomore Joseph DiPetto, along with Kline and Lebryk repeatedly stood their ground on defense, keeping the ball far from their goal until the mid first half.
The statesmen scored 19 minutes into the first half, in their second attempt off of a saved header, followed by multiple saved attempts by senior goalkeeper Jessee Del Cid.
The Raiders played competitively but the statesmen offense remained a challenge. The statesmen scored again with just 2 minutes left in the first half and again 6 minutes into the second.
The final goal was made with only 7 minutes left in the final half, setting the final score at 4-0. The Raiders will now move on to the conference tournament, with their first game on Monday, May 18.
