There are many great upcoming musicians that are heading to Washington D.C. and Maryland just in time for the holidays. Many different musicians from electronic and dance to pop, rock, R&B, and rap will be performing in our hometown.
“Hot 99.5 Jingle Ball” is coming back to Washington D.C. on Monday, December 14 at the Verizon Center. The all ages events line up consists of the Australian pop rock band 5 Seconds of Summer, Indie pop artist Tove Lo. Pop artists Shawn Mendes, Hailee Steinfeld, R. City, Charlie Puth, and Demi Lovato. Contemporary R&B singers Alessia Cara and Natalie La Rose. Also, electro house producer and DJ, Zedd.
“I wish I could go [to Jingle Ball] because some of my favorite artists are there, like Shawn Mendes and 5 Seconds of Summer. I’ve known them for a long time and I’d really like to see them in concert,” said Freshman Marwa Kazimi.
This will be Shawn Mendes’ second time performing at “Jingle Ball.”
The electronic and dance producer, DJ, and singer Zedd will be at Echostage in Washington D.C. on December 26 and December 27. The event is ages 18 and up.
Performing in Silver Spring, Maryland at The Fillmore Silver Spring on Sunday, December 13 is rap artist Mac Miller. Also performing at the event is rap duo EarthGang, hip-hop/rap artist Michael Christmas, and Remember. The event is also all ages.
Mac Miller will be performing his newest album “GO:OD AM.”
Wale & Friends 5th Annual New Year’s Day Show is also returning in Silver Spring, Maryland at The Fillmore Silver Spring on Friday, January 1. The all ages event is the fifth year Wale will be performing at his annual New Year’s Day Show, he has been doing this since The Fillmore first opened.
“I got free tickets to the Mac miller concert through a family friend but I want to go to the Wale concert only problem is I’m on the basketball team so I don’t have free time,” said senior Christopher Coyne.
There are many other performers that were not mentioned but are coming to the D.C. and Maryland area in the upcoming weeks. Musicians coming such as Zedd, Mac Miller, Wale, and artists from “Hot 99.5 Jingle Ball” are the ones that teens are most interested in seeing that are heading to the D.M.V.
